WTC 2023 Final [WATCH]: KS Bharat makes a sensational grab to take out David Warner

India chose to bowl first in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023. Australia lost a wicket early after being invited to bat first on a green-looking ground in overcast weather. Usman Khawaja stepped out for a duck at Mohammad Siraj’s sensational delivery. A few quick wickets at that stage would have exposed Australia’s inexperienced middle-order line-up down the middle. But watch out from then on David Warner and determined Marnus Labuschagne stabilized the ship for the Aussies.
Both batters took the cautious approach at the start when conditions were unfavorable. Once the sun came out, the runs started to flow freely. The omens looked ominous India as the second wicket partnership between Warner and Labuschagne took the score to 71/1 with lunch just around the corner. But Shardul Thakur had other plans. He weaved his magic, sending off the dangerous looking Warner just before lunch and bringing India back into the game. Indian wicket-keeper K. S. Bharat took a spectacular catch down the leg, with the ball moving away from him.
On the fourth ball of the 22nd over, Warner, who already scored a four on the second delivery, tried to whack another short ball to the boundary. However, he could only hold it in the direction of the leg slip area. Bharat quickly moved to the right and dived full length to take the low catch. The ball was just inches away from hitting the grass; the keeper made no mistake completing the catch and sent the southpaw back to the cabin.

Notably, Australia reached 327 for three on the stumps on the opening day of the WTC final against India. The Aussies scored an impressive 157 runs in the final session without losing a single wicket. India was left reeling from the brutal 251 partnership between Steve Smith (95 not out) and Travis head (146 not out).
