In the top-of-the-table clash between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in the ongoing Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side beat Delhi to register their hat-trick of wins in the tournament.
The Capitals won the toss and decided to bat first, but the decision went horribly wrong as they were bundled for just 105 in 18 overs. skipper Mega Lanning played a decent run of 43 runs off 41 balls, including five fours, while Jemima Rodrigues scored 25 runs off 18 balls using three fours. The rest of the battle unit could contribute nothing.
The will of Issie Wong, Saika IshaqueAnd Hayley Matthews were all star players with the ball for Mumbai, taking three wickets each and taking 10, 13 and 19 runs respectively.
In response, Mumbai had a comfortable chase, with opener Yastica Bhatia crushing 41 runs from 32 balls, including eight fours. Matthews, who took three wickets, contributed 32 runs off 31 balls, including six fours. Mumbai chased the target quite comfortably and won the match by 8 wickets.
“Today our bowlers did very well. They make my job easier. Who enters is eager to bowl. Having so many options makes your job so easy. Thanks to our bowlers. Bowling by the pitch is key in T20s, and we can do that. After the last game we all talked about throwing some bad balls. Yastika and Hayley gave us a really good start. Now the tournament will start because the fields will be on the slower side. said MI skipper Harmanpreet during the post-match presentation.
Here’s how Twitter responded:

Mumbai Indians in WPL 2023:
– Defeat Gujarat by 143 runs.
– Chase 156 runs from 14.2 overs vs RCB.
– Chase 106 runs from 15 overs vs DC.
This is ruthless.

It feels like Nat Sciver-Brunt AND Hayley Matthews being on the same team is just unfair
