What football games are coming to Peacock in January

Welcoming 2023 means welcoming some major football matches to be broadcast exclusively on Peacock in January.
Admittedly, the only football asset Peacock owns is the Premier League. However, that still means about four or five games a weekend exclusively on the service. Often that includes some big games. Derbies, top four battles and especially relegation shocks are commonplace at Peacock, and January’s football games are no different.
In the past, NBC saves its big games for USA Network or even NBC on Saturdays at 12:30 p.m. ET. As you’ll see, that’s not necessarily the case for January. Perhaps in an effort to attract subscribers to Peacock, NBC posted some of the season’s biggest games on the service.

Currently, Peacock remains $4.99 per month or an annual option for $49.99. It provides access to much of NBC’s content, including exclusive shows and movies, in addition to Premier League games.

Thursday, January 5 – Chelsea vs. Manchester City
Midweek games may air more often on Peacock just because of the different content on USA Network or NBC. However, this is still a huge game regardless of Chelsea’s relative struggles. Pep Guardiola has had Chelsea’s number since losing to the Blues in the 2021 Champions League final. However, Graham Potter must steer the ship in the right direction, with Chelsea lurking lower half of the table.
Saturday January 14 – Brighton vs. Liverpool
Speaking of Graham Potter, his former employers are doing quite well despite losing the England coach. Once again Brighton top the table, with notable results against Chelsea, Manchester United and a tough draw at Anfield. That 3-3 game is what makes this Brighton-Liverpool clash so exciting. That game a few months ago was arguably the game of the season, as Leandro Trossard scored a hat-trick.
Saturday January 14 – Manchester United vs. Manchester City
One of the few games this season to surpass the 3-3 draw between Brighton and Liverpool was the first Manchester Derby of the season. City beat United 6-3 at the Etihad. However, this is a much changed United squad since that game. Erik ten Hag lets United flow and that applies especially at home. The Red Devils have not conceded at home since the beginning of September and have collected 19 of a possible 21 points since their opening day loss to Brighton.
For Manchester City, this is an important match for more than just bragging rights. Arsenal develop something of a cushion at the top of the table, eight points in this game. City therefore has no time to drop points, even if it has still to wait for both games against Arsenal.
Saturday January 14 – Everton vs. Southampton
Yes, another football game on January 14 is only available on Peacock. Still, this is not a derby nor a battle between teams competing for European places or titles. Instead, this is more desperate. Everton and Southampton are currently embroiled in the relegation battle. The importance of these matches against each other cannot be underestimated. Dropping points is one thing, but it allows direct rivals to earn points and get out of the scrap heap as a result. Emotions run high as teams search for results.
Monday January 23 – Fulham vs. Tottenham
Newly promoted Fulham is one of the underrated points of the season. After a season in the Championship, the Craven Cottage side are flying in the top flight. There is even reason to believe that Fulham could legitimately compete for a place in Europe. It’s a lofty goal, but the recent results wouldn’t shy away from that.
For Tottenham, even if it’s higher on the table, it’s frustration. Antonio Conte himself admitted that finishing in the top four is a serious challenge that even he may struggle with. As a result, this London derby has taken on a new flavor of interest traditionally reserved for something like Arsenal v Chelsea.
