USWNT names 23-player roster for SheBelieves Cup

With the SheBelieves Cup set to open in mid-February, USWNT head coach Vlatko Andonovski announced his squad for the three games in the competition.
It’s almost an entirely NWSL based group of players. The squad is pretty much a mirror of the squad that went to New Zealand for a pair of friendlies against one of the 2023 World Cup hosts. While down there, the United States won both games by a combined score of 9-0 . The only change is the return of Megan Rapinoe to the USWNT, where she takes the place of midfielder Sam Coffey.
During this miniature tournament, Rapinoe gets the chance to break 200 caps for the USWNT. She is currently at 197. If she can play all three games, she will be the 14th player in USWNT history to play with the United States for two centuries. Alex Morgan accomplished that feat on the trip to New Zealand.
Perhaps the general lack of change in the squad shows Andonovski is cementing his squad for this summer’s World Cup. A team with experience, with five players over 100 caps and more who have at least 50.

Look at the SheBelieves Cup
The annual competition may have its best field in the 2023 tournament. With the United States as the number 1 team in FIFA Women’s World Rankingit plays against Canada (No. 6), Brazil (No. 9) and Japan (No. 11).
In the SheBelieves Cup, each team plays the other three once. The matches are back-to-back on the same day at the same venue. Day one is February 16 at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, FL. Then, on February 19, the league moves to Geodis Park in Nashville, TN. Finally, the final day of play is February 22 from Toyota Stadium in Frisco, TX.
All games in the SheBelieves Cup TV show are available on HBO Max. It is US Soccer’s first major event in its new deal with Warner Bros. Discovery. The USWNT made its debut on HBO Max in those friendlies against New Zealand. Games are also available in Spanish on Peacock.
