Twitter Reactions: Ollie Robinson, James Anderson bowl England to stunning victory over Pakistan in first Test

In a dramatic end to an incredible test, England defeated Pakistan at Pindi Cricket Stadium to go 1-0 up in the three-match series. The visitors achieved the first test, in the last session of day 5, with 74 runs. The tempo duo of Oliver Robinson and James Anderson took four wickets each on a slow course to knock out Pakistan for 268 runs in the second innings.
The last wicket pair of Naseem Shah and Mohammed Ali gave their best and tried to tie the game from what looked like a losing position for Pakistan. However, they fell short despite England’s persistence. The pair held the England bowlers off for 52 balls before Jack Leach finally managed to trap Naseem up front.
Earlier, Saud Shakeel hit his first half-century to keep Pakistan in the hunt before leaving for 76. Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammed Rizwan scored 48 and 46 respectively. England posted a record 657 in their first innings before bagging the hosts for 579 and then declaring their second innings at 264/7.

What a remarkable five days of cricket in Rawalpindi 🙌
From Ollie Pope’s first innings century to Will Jacks’ 6fer on his debut and the drama of the final evening session – it was an exciting test match.

There is stiff competition, but of the 7 wins from the McCullum-Stokes era – v🇳🇿🇮🇳🇿🇦🇵🇰 – this was the most impressive, incredible and mind blowing.
Very few, if any, other teams would have won against this opponent in these circumstances.

Let’s stop with “BazBall doesn’t work in a certain situation against a certain opposition”. They’ve already done enough. Even if they don’t win a single test match with this approach, they will already go down in history as one of the most enterprising teams of all time

Joy of watching English cricket do things comes with the pain of dealing with English cricket brotherhood. This will be treated as the greatest victory in 500 years.
