Twitter reactions: Jos Buttler, Dawid Malan, Jofra Archer help England avoid clean sweep against South Africa

In the third and final One-Day International (ODI) of the three-match series at Diamond Oval in Kimberley, England bounced back to beat South Africa by 59 runs to avoid the clean sweep.

Batting first, the England batting line-up turned in a strong performance, with a huge 346/7 on the board in their allotted 50 overs. Opener David Malan and captain Josh Butler both destroyed great centuries to help England build a huge total. While Malan made 118 runs from 114 deliveries using 7 fours and 4 sixes, Buttler hit 131 runs from 127 balls including 6 fours and 7 sixes.

South African Bowlers, Lungi Ngidi and Mark Jansen, took 4 and 2 wickets respectively, but could not stop the English batting attack. In response, the Proteas never quite got the momentum they wanted and were bundled for 287 in 43.1 overs. Reza Hendriks (52 runs from 61) and Henry Klaassen (80 points out of 62) showed some struggle, but it wasn’t enough.

English bowlers led by Jofra Sagittarius destroyed the South African battle unit. Archer then took a six wicket haul while conceding just 40 runs in 9.1 overs, including a maiden. Spinner Adil Rashid also shone with the ball, taking three wickets for 68 in his 10 overs quota.

Buttler was named the Player of the match like Player of the series for his outstanding performance with the bat. The English skipper ended the series with 261 runs to his name at an excellent average of 130.50.
