Twitter Reactions: Australia clinch series after Sarel Erwee hold on to draw in SCG test

Sarah Erwee and Tem Bavuma played the final session of the third Test against Australia at Sydney Cricket Ground to secure a draw and keep alive Proteas’ hopes of making the final of the World Test Championship (WTC).
The hosts went into the final day looking for 14 tourist wickets to complete a series sweep, but faced a strong backlash from South Africa’s eighth wicket pair. Keshav Maharaj and Simon Harmer in the first innings.
A sensational saying from the Australian skipper Pat Cummins on day 4, the home side fulfilled hopes of a final day victory, but they were blunted by night batsmen Harmer and Jansen before Maharaj took South Africa’s perseverance to another level. He added 85 runs with Harmer for the eighth wicket before Australia finished South Africa’s innings and forced the follow-on.
The visitors lost captain Dan Elgar early in the second innings, but Erwee and Henry Classes kept Australia at bay. The duo took the team’s total to 75 before Klassen was fired. However, Erwee held on and was well supported by Bavuma as the duo played the final session to secure a draw for South Africa.

with the amount of rain in Sydney, a draw was always the most likely result. Just highlighting how stunned was the decision to deny Usman a double century. 1-2 overs to get 5 runs wouldn’t have changed anything! #AUSvSA https://t.co/cwelwaXINu
