Twitter goes crazy over Ally McCoist’s comment during Argentina vs Croatia

Ally McCoist is the star of Argentina against Croatia according to social media.
The Scot was parachuted onto ITV’s half-match commentary team alongside Sam Matterface and Lee Dixon – and he stole the show from the other two with his laid-back style and enthusiasm for watching Lionel Messi’s masterclass.
So much so that he is now trending on Twitter.

Lionel Messi had to be the one to open the scoring the night he equaled Lothar Matthaus’s 24-year-old record for all-time World Cup appearances. After goalkeeper Dominic Livakovic fouled Julian Alvarez, Messi scored his fourth penalty of the tournament (three in normal time, one in a shootout) by tapping it into the top corner. However, the penalty decision itself was hotly contested in the ITV studio with Roy Keane, Ian Wright and Gary Neville were all stunned that it was given.
Soon the lead was doubled. Messi had little to do with this, with Alvarez instead picking up the reins and blasting across the field to finish one of the best solos of the World Cup so far. There were a few lucky bounces along the way, but the Manchester City striker finished it off with some confidence to force Croatia to throw caution to the wind.
They did – and yet Messi seemed to hold on to his hamstring after the break, the Flea had another moment of magic in the tank, cutting through Croatia’s defense and clearly leaving Josko Gvardiol – one of the players of the tournament – looking ordinary. Alvarez was there to finish but all credit went to Messi’s incredible run.
Argentina won 3-0 on Sunday and has qualified for the World Cup final.
