Shocking details about Myles Turner’s Pacers future

NBA Analytics Network

One of the more pleasant surprises in the NBA so far this season has been the Indiana Pacers’ play. They are currently 15-14 and ranked seventh in the Eastern Conference, just half a game behind the New York Knicks who are sixth and the last team outside the NBA Play-In Tournament.

Indiana started the season looking like a team that was clearly rebuilding, but their plans could change in the blink of an eye. What they decide to do with center Myles Turner will certainly tell about what their plans are.

Turner has been in the trade bloc for years, but maybe they’ll tie him up again now. He’s in the middle of a career season and thriving alongside Tyrese Haliburton, who was acquired from the Sacramento Kings in the Domantas Sabonis blockbuster ahead of the February trade deadline.

Indiana reportedly had a high asking price for Turner, but had he not injured his foot before the deadline, chances are he would have been on his way. With a career-high 17.6 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, along with 1.5 assists and 2.3 blocks, Turner’s worth is only increasing.

As shared by Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, there are plenty of teams still interested in Turner. If the Pacers get an offer they like, they will have to make a very difficult decision.

“That could lead to a new commitment with Turner, who will become free this summer. Still, many teams are interested if the Pacers change course, including the Los Angeles Lakers, LA Clippers and Golden State Warriors.

Indiana may be focusing more on making the playoffs, but other teams are targeting Buddy Hield and TJ McConnell.”

If the Pacers plan to compete for a playoff spot, Turner will be held until the deadline. He’s a very important piece of the puzzle to them, and the owner has always hesitated to break down completely, like the Oklahoma City Thunder or Houston Rockets.

If so, Indiana could become surprise buyers before the deadline. They have the resources to make a deal with all the veterans they traded in the past year, should the opportunity arise. They are definitely a franchise to watch as they can change the landscape of the competition whether they are buyers or sellers.
