Shaquille O’Neal has bold plans to buy and run the team

It’s hard to go a day without seeing Shaquille O’Neal as part of something. Whether as an NBA analyst or in one of the many commercials he stars in, O’Neal has become a fixture on television and the media. He is a successful businessman and hopes to return to the property game.

O’Neal owned a small piece of the Sacramento Kings, which he purchased in 2013. Earlier this year, however, he had to sell his stake because of a conflict with another company he was a part of. He would love to get back in the owner’s box, but this time he wants to more busy with things.

One of the teams O’Neal could be interested in is the Phoenix Suns. Playing for the franchise near the end of his NBA career, O’Neal is available for purchase.

The Suns and Phoenix Mercury are up for sale as part of the Robert Sarver investigation. He wasn’t forced to sell the team or permanently suspended like Donald Sterling, but the backlash from his sentence essentially forced him to hand.

While O’Neal has not yet had a move regarding the Suns’ possession, he made it clear that he would like to return to the NBA.

“I haven’t had any conversations with my partners yet, so I can’t make the statement yet, but we are still looking for a strong commitment to the purchase of an NBA team.” Shaq told us.

One of the things stopping O’Neal from buying the Suns is that he doesn’t want to bid against Jeff Bezos, who appears to be a friend of O’Neal’s and was interested in the Suns. However, Bezos has since turned his attention to the NFL and the Washington Commanders. Shaq was asked about his interest in an NFL franchise should it not work out in the NBA.

“Yes, but if I buy a team this time, I want to be closely involved. I would like it to be in a place where I live. If it’s not the Dolphins, the Cowboys, or the Raiders, and those teams are way too expensive for me, but my main man JB can write that check!

O’Neal’s net worth is around $400 million, so he can definitely be a partner in owning a sports franchise. He’s not kidding when he says Bezos can write the check, as Amazon’s executive chairman has a net worth of $113.8 billion.
