Reactions on Twitter: Ravichandran Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer help India conquer Bangladesh in two test series

Ravichandran Ashwin (42 not out) and Shreyas Iyer (29 not out) added an unbeaten 71-run partnership for the eighth wicket that helped India book a thrilling victory against bangladesh in the second and final test match of the series.

India resumed Day 4 at 45/4 needing 100 more runs to win at Dhaka and a series sweep (2-0). Early in the day, Bangladesh skipper and left arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan caught Jaydev Unadkat in front, sending the Indian batsman back to the pavilion for 13. Wickets continued to fall as the touring section lost two more wickets – Rishabh pants (9) and a night attachment Axar Patel (34) – in quick succession. Both Pant and Patel were fired by Mehidy Hassan Mirazwho claimed a five-for in the second innings.

The next two batters – Iyer and Ashwin – batted cautiously and continued to spin the bat before coming into their own nicely. The duo only started batting aggressively when the required number of points fell below 50. At the time, it looked like it was India’s game and it turned out to be that in the end.

The eighth wicket score was India’s second highest in Test cricket in the fourth innings, and it moved India to second pace in the 2021-23 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) table.

India’s next WTC order is against Australiaa four-match home series in February–March 2023.
