Reactions on Twitter: Mehidy Hasan’s heroics lead Bangladesh to a blood-curdling victory over India

Mehidy Hassan proved to be Dhaka’s hero as he drove Bangladesh to a thrilling one-wicket victory over India in the first ODI at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium. The nerve-racking win helped the hosts take a 1–0 lead in the three-match series.
With only one wicket in hand, Bangladesh needed 51 runs to win the match. Mehidy entered into a sensational partnership with Mustafizur Rahman and finished with an unbeaten 38 to send across the line. The last wicket pair stayed together for 39 deliveries and added a vital 51 runs.
Mehidy fancied his chances by regularly attacking the bowlers. He did create a few chances, but India collapsed under pressure KL Rahul Dropping Mehidy once and Washington Sundar not judging the catch. Things went south for the tourists, as aside from dropping catches, they threw no-balls, performed overthrows, and misfielded as well.
Previously, Shakib Al Hasan and Ebadot Hossain ran through the Indian batting unit and eventually took the visitors for 186 in 41.2 overs. Shakib took a five wicket haul for 36 in his 10 overs quota, and Hossain took four scalps as he gave away 47 runs in 8.2 overs. For the Men in Blue, Rahul scored highest with 73 of 70 deliveries, using five fours and four sixes.
“I am really happy and excited. I just thought about focusing on one area and believing in that strategy, and I knew I only needed to hit about 20 balls to get going. I tried to bowl from wicket to wicket with the ball. It’s a memorable achievement for me,” Mehidy said after the game.
Here’s how Twitter responded:

Again, since last year, India has failed to defend a target in formats that were at one point seemingly difficult for the opposition to pursue.#IndvBan #INDvsBangladesh#BanvInd #BanvsInd
