In the 35th game of the ongoing 2022-23 Big Bash League (BBL), Hobart hurricanes defeated Melbourne stars by 2 wickets at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart.
Stars batted first and posted a total of 131/7 in 20 overs. The only batter who had hit well for the Stars was Hilton Cartwrightwho scored a decent 57 runs off 47 deliveries and took his team to a respectable total.
In response, Hurricanes’ using opener Caleb Jewel‘s 70 (44), chased target in 17.4 overs and scored 133 for the loss of 8 wickets.
Aside from the team’s batting performance, Hurricanes’ skipper Nathan Ellis bowled exceptionally well, taking two wickets in his four overs quota, giving away just 12 runs. Riley Meredith and Faheem Ashraf also took two wickets each.
The game towards the end got a little dramatic after the Stars rejected the Hurricanes’ top order. Yet somehow the latter managed to pull off a victory, with captain Ellis hitting the winning runs.

Who is the Hobart Hurricanes coach? He seems to have a problem with Power Surge over and over again. This game would have ended 4-5 overs early with a power surge and NRR would have been positive #BBL12

Very charitable of Hobart Hurricanes to increase the confidence of the Stars in this way

This chase gives all the atmosphere of that IPL game where Delhi Capitals lost 7 wickets for 8 runs against Punjab. Hobart Hurricanes make an absolute success of a game they should have completed by now. Have they forgotten that the Power Surge exists? #BBL12

Caleb Jewell I’m watching from here in England, as an England fan, and I think he’s going to be the next big thing in Australia’s white ball cricket

The @HurricanesBBL lost 6-31 en route to that two wicket win 🌪️
Really important innings from Caleb Jewell (70 for 44) at the end – could have been one of the biggest chokes in BBL history!#BBL12
