In the ongoing 2022-23 Ranji Trophy, Prithvi Shawthat the Mumbai team, hit a brilliant double century during an Elite Group B match against Assam at the Amingaon Cricket Ground in Guwahati on Tuesday.

Shaw played a flamboyant inning and jump-started Mumbai by forming a dominant 123-run opening partnership with Musheer Khanwho scored 42 before Mukhtar Hussain dismissed him.

Shaw then added 74 runs for the first wicket with Arman Jaffer (27), and after its run-out, the Mumbaikar built a 200-run unbeaten run with skipper Ajinkya Rahane. At stumps, Mumbai reached 397/2 with Shaw unbeaten on 240 using 34 bounds while Rahane was out on 73 including five fours.

Speaking of Shaw, he was part of the India A-squad in September, which faced New Zealand, but was not selected in any series on a domestic or overseas tour. The 23-year-old played his last game for India in July 2021, when the Men in Blue toured Sri Lanka. Since then Shaw has been absent, but he has worked hard to get the attention of the selectors.
