PSL Draft 2023 player list, foreign player list, retained player list, pick order, where to watch

The eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) kicks off on February 9 with the final of the tournament on March 19. The Draft for the PSL 2023 will take place on December 15 in Karachi.

Previously, all six franchises announced their retention on November 11 ahead of the players’ draft. In one of the most shocking moves, Pakistani skipper Babar Azam moved to Peshawar Zalmi in the supplementary round, while veteran batsman Shoaib Malik and youngster Haider Ali have joined the Karachi Kings.

The defending champion Lahore Qalandars is the only franchise to retain two players in the Platinum category – Rashid Khan and Shaheen Afridi, while all other franchises have retained only one player from this category.

Multan Sultans, the runner-up and table toppers of the last edition of the tournament, have kept their skipper Mohammad Rizwan in the platinum category.

Islamabad United, on the other hand, has retained Shadab Khan in the platinum category while Mohammad Nawaz takes a place in the platinum category for the Quetta Gladiators franchise.

During the draft, each of the six franchises will have the Right to Match (RTM) card that allows them to choose any player they released prior to the draft. After the draft, a total of 18 members can be chosen in the squad.

Players are divided into the six categories – Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver, Emerging and Supplementary, and franchises will have to choose cricketers from each category. A team can select three players from the first three categories and two from the remaining categories.

PSL Draft 2023 – Pick Order

Picking order was determined by lottery at the Pakistan Cricket Board office. Defending champion Lahore Qalandars has been given the first choice.

Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans will make the second and third picks. The fourth and fifth picks are from Karachi Kings and Islamabad United.
