Neymar shares chats with distraught Brazilian teammates after World Cup exit: ‘I want to cry a lot’

Neymar has shared conversations he has had with Brazil teammates after their shocking 2022 World Cup (opens in new tab) defeat to Croatia.
The Seleção were the pre-tournament favorites to win the title in Qatar, but crashed out on penalties in the quarter-finals.
A lack of unity among the players was a point of criticism for Tite’s team following their elimination.
But Neymar responded to the suggestion by sharing screenshots on Instagram of the supportive chats he had with Marquinhos, Rodrygo and Thiago Silva.
Marquinhos, a teammate of Neymar at both PSG and Brazil, missed the decisive penalty against Croatia.
“I’m dropping by to say I’m your fan,” Neymar wrote to the central defender.
“One punishment won’t change how I feel about you. I’m with you forever, and you know it. I love you.”
Marquinhos replied: “I really wanted it all to work out – it’s terrible to think that penalty kick was an obstacle in our dream! But let’s go, we have to be strong, give time and see what football has in store. ” U.S.
“Only we know what we went through to be here, what we went through in those days there, that’s why it really hurts, the weight is great, but God knows what He’s doing. If he gave me this, it’s because I can bear it.” it and so on.”
Chelsea defender Thiago Silva takes the elimination badly as it will probably be the 38-year-old’s last World Cup appearance.
Neymar wrote to him: “We’ll have to move on, brother, unfortunately that’s how it is! I wanted to give you this cup so badly. You, me and Dani [Alves] well deserved… But God has our purpose, and he knows everything.”
“Brother, it’s harder than I originally thought,” Silva replied.
“I can’t stand it. I can’t believe we lost! Every hour I remind myself makes me want to cry a lot… But it will be okay.”
Real Madrid striker Rodrygo is at the opposite end of the age spectrum, having first appeared at the World Cup aged 21 in Qatar.
The youngster also failed from the penalty spot against Croatia, with his effort saved by goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic.
Neymar wrote to Rodrygo: “Brother, I’m here to tell you you are amazing. The only people who miss penalties are the ones who take them.
“I’ve already missed a lot in my career, and I learned with all of them. But I never gave up, always tried to get better and improve in every way possible.”
Rodrygo wrote back, “Thank you my idol. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Sorry for everything and also for delaying your dream. I hope you can continue with us so we can win together.”
