Netizens spark meme fest after Suryakumar Yadav’s embarrassing performance of three consecutive ducks in ODIs
India closed horns with Australia in the third and final ODI at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday (22 March), where the Men in Blue lost the game by 21 points and failed to clinch the series.
After winning the opening match of the leg, India could not quite carry the momentum and was thrashed by the Australian side in Visakhapatnam by ten wickets in the next match. The Men in Yellow opted to bat first in the series decider and the third ODI, scoring a competitive 269 in 49 overs. Mitchell Marsh top scorer for his team with a handy 47 runs while Alex Carey also contributed crucial 38 runs to the teams total.
On the other handHardik Pandaya And Kuldeep Yadav were the bowlers’ picks for India, as they each took three wickets for 44 and 56 runs respectively.
In reply, India could not chase down the set target and bundled for 248 in 49.1 overs. although Virat Kohli (54) scored a bouncy fifty for the team, failing to sail through the hosts and unfortunately finishing on the losing side. In the meantime, Adam Zampa took four wickets for the visitors and was well assisted by Ashton agarwho plucked two scalps.
One of India’s most explosive hitters in recent times, Suryakumar Yadav, again failed fans’ hopes when he went back to the pavilion in the series decider without opening his account. It was the third time in a row that the 32-year-old cricketer from Mumbai was fired for a golden duck in his leg. Notably, he also left for back-to-back putouts in the first and second games of the series. With such woeful form in the ODI format, the world’s No. 1 ranked T20I batsman also became the first Indian to record a ducks hat-trick in the 50-over format.
