NBA Exec Introduces Warriors’ Pascal Siakam Trade

The Golden State Warriors will have to make tough decisions when it comes to building their roster. With Stephen Curry still in the fold, the team has a shot at winning full-strength NBA titles. However, the huge cost of keeping the group together may lead them to want to consider some sort of consolidation move.

As for possible options, there are few sellers with an ideal trade candidate for the Warriors to make such a move before the NBA trade deadline. One team that could move in that direction is the Toronto Raptors as they continue to hold down.

An NBA executive suggested that the Warriors use their young players such as James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga and/or Moses Moody, plus Draymond Green, in a trade package to acquire Pascal Siakam from the Raptors. Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report.

Acquiring Siakam would be an incredible achievement for the Warriors. With the dynamic talents at Golden State, there would be so many options to get the best out of him. It’s challenging enough for a defense to contain Siakam with his combination of size, explosiveness and cunning in the four. Combine it with Curry and Co.’s shooting gravity; it’s a nightmare to play against.

The main problem for the Warriors in terms of a hypothetical trade pursuit of Siakam is that other teams don’t hold their young players in high esteem. While some may be intrigued by Kuminga, the value around Wiseman has tanked since he was selected No. 2 overall in the 2020 NBA Draft.

What’s the point of trading a multi-time All-NBA forward in his prime for disappointing recently drafted prospects and Green, who needs to be maxed out alongside a superstar guard? He has a player option for 2023/24, which would also mean an early departure.

With the Raptors sputtering amid an underperforming season with no prospects to contend for a title, adding Draymond Green to the mix doesn’t seem like the right move to headline a trade return for Siakam.
