Manchester City vs Liverpool live stream and match preview
Looking for a live stream of Manchester City vs Liverpool? We’ve got you covered.
Pep Guardiola’s side has been dominant in this competition in recent years. City (opens in new tab) have won four of the last five editions of the tournament, but were knocked out at this stage in 2021/22 and will try to avoid the same fate here.
City had a reasonably strong start to the season before the World Cup stop. They knocked out Chelsea (opens in new tab) in the third round of the Carabao Cup and progressed to the knockout stages of the Champions League with minimal fuss.
Guardiola’s sidetracked Arsenal (opens in new tab) with a five-point lead at the top of the Premier League, but they will take their chance to beat Mikel Arteta’s men in the coming weeks and months. Unlike this exciting Arsenal side, City know what it takes to succeed in a title race.
Liverpool (opens in new tab) are the Carabao Cup holders after their triumph last term. The Reds beat Chelsea on penalties in the final and are now looking to progress to the quarter-finals of this season’s competition.
Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Derby in the third round, but they only squeezed past the League One team on penalties. That was part of a disappointing start to the season for the Reds, who are currently sixth in the Premier League.
Liverpool will not be able to call on the services of Diogo Jota, Arthur Melo and Luis Diaz, who have been sidelined for the last three months with a knee injury.
Jordan Henderson and Alisson Becker started for England and Brazil respectively in the quarter-finals of the World Cup and may get a few more days off, while Ibrahima Konate will not be involved so soon after the final.
City are not worried about injuries heading into this game and Guardiola could be tempted to name a strong side given the identities of his team’s opponents.
However, he may not start all of the John Stones, Nathan Ake, Joao Cancelo, Bernardo Silva and Ruben Dias who were involved with Qatar up to the quarter-finals. Argentina international Julian Alvarez will not play a role.

VPN guide
If you’re out of the country for a round of Carabao Cup action, your domestic on-demand services are annoyingly down – the broadcaster knows where you are because of your IP address (boo!). You’ll be blocked from watching it, which isn’t ideal if you’ve paid for a subscription and still want to see the action without resorting to illegal feeds found on Reddit.
But help is available. To get around that, all you need to do is purchase a Virtual Private Network (VPN), assuming it meets your broadcaster’s terms and conditions. A VPN creates a private connection between your device and the internet, meaning the service can’t find out where you are and won’t automatically block the service you paid for. All the information that passes between them is fully encrypted – and that’s a result.
There are plenty of great value options out there, as well FourFourTwo currently recommends:
