Liverpool report: Reds get boost as Brighton drops Moises Caicedo asking price

Liverpool (opens in new tab)The chances of capturing Moises Caicedo may have only increased with Brighton (opens in new tab) reportedly significantly lowering their asking price for the midfielder.
Arsenal (opens in new tab)and Chelsea (opens in new tab) to have also associated with the impressive Ecuadorian (opens in new tab)who recently played for his country at the World Cup.
And according to the Mirror (opens in new tab)Brighton, who had previously demanded £85 million, would consider offers of £60 million plus add-ons for Caicedo (currently valued at around £33 million by Transfer market (opens in new tab)).
Many have pointed to a lack of strength in midfield as the main reason for Liverpool’s troubles this season, and Jude Bellingham is a particularly high-profile name reportedly on the Reds’ radar.
Jürgen Klopp says his side is suffering from more general structural problems (opens in new tab) – but that’s not to say the 2019/20 Premier League champions won’t be moving for a midfielder this transfer window, and Caicedo could be a smart signing.
The 21-year-old came over from the Ecuadorian Independiente del Valle to Brighton on the deadline of the 2021 winter period. He made his Seagulls debut at the start of the 2021/22 season before being loaned out to Belgian side Beerschot.
However, Caicedo was recalled by his parent club midway through 2021/22 and then made his Premier League debut in April – and scored his first Brighton goal, opening the scoring in a 4-0 win over Manchester United (opens in new tab).
This season, Caicedo continues to capture the attention of the Seagulls – starring their 3-3 draw against Liverpool in head coach Roberto De Zerbi’s first game and October’s memorable 4-1 win against Chelsea.
Next for Caicedo and Brighton? A home game in the Premier League on Saturday with Liverpool, of course…
