IPL 2023 Auction: 3 Players Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Can Target

The four-time champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pushed their team forward IPL 2023 auction while releasing a plethora of players during the retention period.
The Yellow Brigade released Dwayne Bravo, who has been a great servant for Chennai Super Kings over the years. The West Indies all-rounder had quite a run in IPL 2022 as he scalped 16 wickets in 10 matches.
However, he struggled to get runs with the bat, scoring just 23 runs in the tournament. Besides Bravo, they also released Adam Milne, Hari Nishaanth and Chris Jordan ahead of the mini auction.
However, the Super Kings have kept their core in MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali and will try to fill the remaining voids in the IPL 2023 auction. In that regard, we look at the list of three players that CSK will be targeting in the upcoming auction.
1.Sam Curran

The ‘Kadai Kutty Singam’ is arguably one of the ‘hottest properties’ in the upcoming mini auction, especially after its stellar performance in the past T20 World Cup. The England all-rounder played the 2020 and 2021 IPL seasons for CSK and missed the 2022 edition of the money-rich competition due to injury.
Heading into the IPL 2023 auction, Chennai Super Kings have a spot open for a foreign fast bowler, who can also bowl well in death overs. Meanwhile, Sam Curran ticks all the boxes really well, and CSK will surely go after him in the auction.

2. Harry Brook

Chennai Super Kings lacked a proper mid order spin basher in the 2022 edition of the tournament. They can target England’s Harry Brook for this role.
The young prodigy Brook could be their real number 4 batter. He can take advantage of the conditions when the ball gets a little old and attack them, exploring his wide reach to push the opponent onto the back foot.

3. K. S. Bharat

Delhi Capitals has released KS Bharat from their setup ahead of the IPL 2023 auction. Ravindra Jadeja, one of CSK’s detained players, recently asked KS Bharat to join CSK after the latter came in with two yellow heart emojis on an Instagram post.
This could come true. As MS Dhoni will announce his retirement after the 2023 IPL season, the Super Kings will look to secure a reliable wicket-keeper and a mid-range batsman, in which case KS Bharat could be the best choice.
