Five-time IPL champion Mumbai Indians (MI) had a forgettable season last year as they finished a low in the points table with just four wins from 14 games.

They broke the bank for wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan when they signed him for INR 15.25 crore in the mega auction, which was held earlier this year before IPL 2022.

They also signed English pacer Jofra Archer for INR 8 Crore which meant they had quite a weak bowling attack which affected their performance in the 2022 IPL season.

After keeping their core in Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Suryakunar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah along with several other players, they will have an excellent IPL 2023 auction.

1. Ben Stokes

The hero of the two World Cups, Ben Stokes, has reportedly submitted his name for the IPL 2023 auction. The most successful franchise in IPL history is sure to follow him in the flagship franchise.

The reason would be the same: fill the big shoes of Kieron Pollard, the fast all-rounder. Stokes did not appear in the 2022 season of the IPL and is expected to go under the hammer in the IPL 2023 auction.

Once named the tournament’s most valuable player in the IPL 2017 season, Ben Stokes has solid experience playing in the money-rich league and he could be a valuable addition to the Mumbai-based franchise.

Long-serving Mumbai Indians all-rounder Kieron Pollard announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League and assumed the position of MI’s batting coach in the upcoming 2023 season.

In the absence of Pollard, the five-time champions will look for a good pace all-rounder to fill the big boots of the West Indies veteran, who can bat and chip the ball in a few overs.

The 23-year-old possesses both qualities as he can score quickly and bowl consistently at 130-140km/h. Also, the young Australian all-rounder will be one of the hottest properties in the upcoming auction.

3. Shivam Mavi

Mumbai Indians struggled to get a good quality Indian fast bowler in the 2022 edition of IPL to pair with premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah and the inclusion of Mavi may allay the five-time champion’s worries.

The Uttar Pradesh native was brought in by Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2022 IPL mega auction for a whopping INR 7.25 Crore.

However, he failed to perform well, having taken five wickets in six matches against a poor economy of 10.32. The two-time champions released Mavi ahead of the IPL 2023 auction.

However, given his ability to swing the ball at high speed, Mumbai Indians would definitely want to use him as a power play bowler.
