Chelsea report: Blues maintain interest in Russian teenager – and he wants to move

Chelsea are interested in Arsen Zakharyan, the midfielder of Dynamo Moscow, and the teenager is reportedly looking to secure a move to Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have sucked up young talent from around the world this season, most recently Andrey Santos, Benoit Badiashile and David Datro Fofana.
Zakharyan, a 19-year-old attacking midfielder with six caps for Russia to his name, is another promising talent on Chelsea’s radar, and they were in talks to sign him this summer.
Fabrizio Romano claims the Premier League side remain interested in a deal, but Zakharyan is one of many young players being looked at and a transfer is not imminent.
Zakharyan is eager to move to London after playing regularly for Dynamo this season, scoring three goals and providing six assists in 22 appearances in all competitions.
The attacking midfielder is estimated at £13 million Transfer market (opens in new tab)and has a contract with the club from Moscow until June 2024.
The youngster broke into the Dynamo first team in the 2020/21 season, becoming the club’s third youngest league scorer when he scored his first senior goal against Akhmat Grozny in February 2021.
He was crowned the club’s player of the season that year and the Russian Football Union’s under-21 best player before winning the Dynamo player of the season award again last season.
Chelsea were in talks to sign Zakharyan last summer but were unable to finalize the deal, with Dynamo blaming “technical reasons beyond our control”.
A note on the website of the Russian club (opens in new tab)said: “For several days now, there have been intensive negotiations between Dynamo and Chelsea, in which our club took a constructive position.
“However, it is not possible to transfer a player in this summer transfer window for a number of technical reasons beyond our control. Nevertheless, Dynamo remains open to offers that suit the club and the footballer.
“At the moment, the parties have decided that Arsen will continue to play for Dynamo.”
