BAN vs IND: Twitter erupts as Ishan Kishan crushes fastest double century in ODI cricket

Ishan Kishan hit the fastest ever double hundred in ODI cricket, the fourth Indian batsman overall to break the 200 run mark, in the third and final ODI against Bangladesh at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Saturday.

Kishan completed his double century with just 126 deliveries, breaking West Indies legend Chris Gayle’s record of 138 balls.

Rohit Sharma has three double tons to his credit in ODIs, while Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwaggayle, Fakhar Zaman and Martin Guptill have each hit a double century.

Kishan’s 150 off 103 balls is the fastest 150 for India in the 50 overs format. The record was formerly held by Sehwag, who raced to that tally against the West Indies in 2011 with 112 balls.

At 24 years and 145 days, Kishan is also the youngest to score a double ton. He finally got out after playing a blistering 210 off 131 balls. During his time at center, the left-handed opener hit 24 fours and 10 sixes. He added 290 runs for the second wicket with centurion Virat Kohli (113 of 91).
