Arsenal target Moises Caicedo submits transfer request – and could force Gunners to move before Tuesday: report

Arsenal target Moises Caicedo is submitting a transfer request to push through his move to North London in the coming days.
That’s according to a report that says the Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder wants to move to the table toppers and take matters into his own hands. This morning, The athletics (opens in new tab) David Orstein (opens in new tab) revealed (opens in new tab) that the Seagulls turned down a £60 million move for the Ecuadorian.
But the saga is not over and Arsenal are expected to take another step before Tuesday’s deadline as Mikel Arteta needs another midfielder to challenge for the Premier League title.
According to TeamTalk (opens in new tab)Caicedo is preparing to submit a transfer request to enforce the matter. Chelsea would still be in the running for the 21-year-old, while Liverpool are also interested.
However, Brighton has maintained the player is not for sale. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano (opens in new tab) claims the player (opens in new tab) has told Brighton he would “like to take the opportunity”.
Arsenal’s hand has been forced in recent weeks, as in the last embers of the summer window. The Gunners have lost Mohamed Elneny again through injury, leaving them very short in midfield.
With The Gunners vying for the title, Thomas Partey has no backup in midfield alongside Albert Sambi Lokonga. However, the Belgian is not a natural only number 6 and has little experience as the deepest midfielder in Arteta’s 4-3-3.
However, it remains more likely that Arsenal will wait until the summer to make a big bid for a defensive midfielder – and that Caicedo is second choice behind Rice for the role. Rumors of other midfielders joining before deadline day are scarce, however.
Caicedo is valued at €38 million by Transfer market (opens in new tab).
