Arsenal could launch a shock move for Eden Hazard if Mykhaylo Mudryk falls though: report

Arsenal have informed about the signing of Eden Hazard from Real Madrid, who is available on loan until the end of the season.
That’s according to an incredible report suggesting the Chelsea legend is on the radar should the deal for Shakhtar Donetsk’s Mykhaylo Mudryk fall through. It seems increasingly likely that the Ukrainian’s move could be finalized in the next week or so, but the Gunners have even contacted Real Madrid about their record signing, in case they need to bring in the Belgian as a plan B.
Hazard has made a disappointing impression in the Spanish capital, having joined from Chelsea for £100 million in 2019. In fact, his last game for the Blues was against Arsenal when he orchestrated a stunning 4-1 thrashing in the Europa League final.
However, his time at the Bernabéu was beset by fitness issues – and with Hazard now 32, this summer will be the last to Los Blancos can try to recoup a fee before losing him on a free transfer in 2024.
French outlet MediaFoot (opens in new tab) have touted what on the surface seems like a ridiculous story – but it’s worth noting that they were among the first to link Mudryk with the North Londoners.
Hazard even has admitted in the past (opens in new tab) that he grew up admiring Arsenal.
“It’s hard for me to admit because of my relationship with Chelsea, but I really liked the Arsenal team at the time,” he said in 2021. “They had players like Robert Pires, [Sylvain] Willor, and [Patrick] Vieira…so it was mostly French players that I followed growing up.”
Hazard would probably be an option on the left flank for the Gunners, rather than Gabriel Martinelli. However, the ex-Premier League star has slipped into No. 10 and false nine roles in the past, while a deterioration in his physicality might make him better suited for a No. 8 berth under Mikel Arteta, rather than an isolated role to have in width. .
Hazard is estimated at just €7.5 million Transfer market (opens in new tab).
